Iran: new restrictive measures

Following the serious human rights violations perpetrated by the Iranian regime, the European Union and the USA have added new subjects to their lists of natural and legal persons, entities and bodies subject to restrictive measures.

The European Union adopts new measures against Iran

Following Implementing Decision (CFSP) 2023/1780 and Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1779, in view of the situation in Iran, four persons and six entities have been added to the list of natural and legal persons, the entities and bodies subject to restrictive measures referred to in Annex I to Regulation (EU) No. 359/2011. Specifically, these are individuals and entities held responsible for serious human rights violations.

Among the designated entities, mention should be made of:

  • the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC);
  • the police commander of Mazandaran Province and the police commander of Fars Province;
  • head of Kachui prison;
  • the largest information body affiliated to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC);
  • the Supreme Council of Cyberspace (SCC);
  • 4 prisons in different areas.
