{"id":8465,"date":"2024-04-19T16:20:11","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T14:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/?p=8465"},"modified":"2024-04-19T16:22:44","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T14:22:44","slug":"eu-european-council-prolongs-frameworks-for-restrictive-measures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/en\/eu-european-council-prolongs-frameworks-for-restrictive-measures\/","title":{"rendered":"EU: European Council prolongs frameworks for restrictive measures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8463 editor-img alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/bandiera-ue-425x319.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/bandiera-ue-425x319.png 425w, https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/bandiera-ue-533x400.png 533w, https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/bandiera-ue-916x687.png 916w, https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/bandiera-ue-723x542.png 723w, https:\/\/www.zpcsrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/bandiera-ue.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/>We report an update on recent EU decisions on expiring sanctions programs and third countries that have decided to align with EU sanctions programs.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Ukraine<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>On March 12, 2024, the European Council, through <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=celex%3A32024D0847\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Council Decision (CFSP) 2024\/847<\/b><\/a>, decided to <b>prolong<\/b> the <b>restrictive measures<\/b> targeting those responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of <b>Ukraine<\/b> for another six months, <b>until 15 September 2024.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>After 24 February 2022, in response to Russia\u2019s military aggression against Ukraine, the EU massively expanded sanctions against Russia with the aim of weakening Russia&#8217;s economic base, depriving it of critical technologies and markets, and significantly curtailing its ability to wage war.<\/p>\n<p>The existing restrictive measures provide for <b>travel restrictions<\/b> for natural persons, the <b>freezing of assets<\/b>, and a <b>ban<\/b> on making <b>funds <\/b>or other <b>economic resources<\/b> available to the listed individuals and entities. Sanctions will continue to apply to over <b>2100 individuals and entities<\/b>, many of which are targeted in response to Russia\u2019s ongoing unjustified and unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine. As part of the sanctions review, the Council also decided to <b>remove 12 persons<\/b> (legal and natural) from the lists.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>On March 25, 2024, through <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/IT\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX:32024D0955\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Decision (EU) 2024\/955<\/b><\/a>, the European Council decided to <b>extend <\/b>the framework for <b>restrictive measures<\/b> in view of the situation in <b>Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/b> for another two years, <b>until 31 March 2026<\/b>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We report an update on recent EU decisions on expiring sanctions programs and third countries that have decided to align with EU sanctions programs.
