\"\"Below are some updates<\/strong> related to the restrictive measures<\/strong> instituted by the European Union<\/strong> in January 2024<\/strong> in reference to the acts of violence perpetrated by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, as well as in connection with the geopolitical situation in Syria, Sudan, Ukraine and Tunisia.<\/p>\n

Israel<\/b><\/h3>\n

Following Council Decision (CFSP) 2024\/385<\/b><\/a> and Regulation (EU) 2024\/386<\/b><\/a> of 19 January 2024, the European Union <\/b>established a framework<\/b> of restrictive measures <\/b>against those who support, facilitate or enable violent actions by Hamas<\/b> and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The measure follows the statements of condemnation<\/b> of the multiple and indiscriminate attacks<\/b> perpetrated by Hamas throughout the country, issued by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on behalf of the European Union in October 2023.<\/p>\n

Those listed under the sanctions regime are subject to an asset freeze<\/b>. The provision of funds <\/b>or economic resources<\/b>, directly or indirectly, to them or for their benefit is prohibited<\/b>. Additionally, a travel ban <\/b>to the EU applies to the natural persons listed.<\/p>\n

Syria<\/b><\/h3>\n

On 22 January 2024, by Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024\/362<\/b><\/a>, the European Council amended Annex II to Regulation (EU) 36\/2012<\/b><\/a> concerning restrictive measures <\/b>in view of the situation in Syria<\/b>, by adding the names of six natural persons <\/b>and five legal entities <\/b>to the list of natural and legal persons, entities or bodies subject to restrictive measures, due to their activities in support of\u00a0 the Syrian regime.<\/p>\n
