\"\"The Council of the European Union<\/b> decided to take the necessary steps to maintain<\/b> the restrictive measures<\/b> under the EU non-proliferation regime on Iran<\/b>, which was due to expire on 18 October. Indeed, the Council considered that there are valid reasons to refrain from lifting these restrictions on Transition Day (18 October 2023), as originally foreseen by the Iranian nuclear agreement (JCPoA – Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).<\/p>\n

The Council decision is in line with the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and the JCPOA, in view of Iran\u2019s failure to comply with its commitments under the JCPOA<\/b>, as reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency since 2019.<\/p>\n
